About the Soapnut

The Indian Soapnut (Sapidus Mukorossi) is a Nut of a Tree in the family of saponans. This special tree is native to the foot of the Himalayas, growing in India and Nepal. The Nut of the Soap Tree is stone-shelled, the Nut is surrounded by a solid outer shell, which abounds in saponins. Saponin is a natural surfactant which when interacts with water bind the grease and dirt, making it perfect for washing clothes.
